2nd & 3rd Weeks of August

Summer Camp 2015 will include the Hansel and Gretel excerpt and add a second excerpt from the music of Ravel, The Child and The Dream.

Students work together to create a production that is performed on the second Friday for the audience of parents and friends!

Adventures in Music FUN-damentals

2nd week of August 10 – 13 (Monday through Thursday mornings)
3rd week of August 17 – 20 (Monday through Thursday mornings)
Special Day: Friday, August 21 (Performance 10am – Noon)

Part I: Skills we explore – basic elements of learning

Oregon Music Teacher’s Assoc outline of levels:
  • Identification of intervals, chords and scales
  • Aural perception of rhythm
  • Regognition of notation
Skills as outlined by the Royal Academy of Music:
  • Sight reading
  • Melodic understanding
  • Participation of rhythmic characters
  • (ie. March, Waltz, Cha-cha-cha)

Part 2: guest artist teachers
